The mission of the Council for North American Policy is to foster an understanding of the contemporary political, social, and economic issues confronting the United States, Mexico, and Canada by increasing public awareness and appreciation of the joint potential and cooperation opportunities of the region and the importance of a strong inter-North American working relationship.
Our goal is too encourage discussion and participation towards the formulation of complex policy decisions in an increasingly prosperous and interdependent, globally competitive region.
The Council was created to promote better understanding of North America—the people, politics, the economy, and business cultures— enabling our citizens to participate more effectively in the region. The Council brings together faculty, students, business leaders, and community members to encourage and support scholarship about North American relations across disciplinary and regional boundaries.

Powerful forces continue to transform our region today. Globalization opens markets but also increases social dislocations and political uncertainty. From NAFTA to the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership, North America must continue to take advantage of its unique set of resources; its natural resources, its culture, and its people, to thrive in this increasingly competitive environment. At this time of rapid change, it is critical for our citizens to be informed and prepared to participate in the global community.
The Council for North American Policy presents information on the issues that define our times and is shaping the new century. We encourage global awareness, financial & economic literacy, and civic engagement, all vital to our security and prosperity.
